The following procedures are examples of pre-prosthetic surgery which may help in improving the comfort of the denture:
Bone remodeling or alveoloplasty
The goal is to remodel bone surgically to allow appropriate prosthetic seating.
Excess bone removal
The goal is to remove excess bone that is uncomfortable to the patient and will allow for a more comfortable seating of the prosthesis/denture.
Removal of excess/mobile gingiva (gums)
The goal of this procedure is to remove fibrous tissue that hinders seating of the prosthesis/denture.
